Oman women rout Germany
Hosts Oman women cruised to a nine-wicket win over Germany in a 35-over-a-side friendly game at the Oman Cricket ground in Amerat on Monday.
The visitors will now play four T20I games against Oman, with the first match to be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
On Monday, set a target of 185 to win, Oman openers Fiza Javed (76 off 92) and Sakshi Shetty (72 n.o. off 85) put on a strong 177-run partnership to ensure a lop-sided victory.
Vice-captain Fiza struck 11 fours while Sakshi hit six boundaries. Skipper Vaishali Jesrani joined Sakshi after Fiza’s dismissal to complete the win. Earlier, opting to bat first, Germany posted 184 for six, which included 33 extras. Anna Healey top-scored with an unbeaten 51 off 57.
Amanda Coetzer was the most successful bowler with two for 28. Saporna Sivakumar, Suhani Dadwal and Sakshi Verma claimed one wicket each.
