Livestock vaccination launched in S Sharqiyah

15 Sep 2020 By MOHAMMED TAHA

To protect livestock from diseases and speed up investigation and determine the places of infection, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resource has launched an immunisation project for livestock in a number of wilayats in South Sharqiyah governorate.

The project is on in places like Al Kamil W’Al Wafi, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan and Jaalan Bani Bu Ali. Ali bin Salem al Hashemi, director of the Agricultural Development Department in Al Kamil W’Al Wafi, said that the livestock immunisation project is an important one.

“The project aims to immunise livestock, reduce infection rates and prevent common diseases between humans and animals,” he said.

The vaccination programme began on September 6 and will continue until the end of April 2021.

It will include all the targeted villages in the wilayats.

Hashemi also indicated that this year, the programme will include a counselling team to educate livestock breeders about the importance of vaccination and the sanitary conditions for the shelter and healthcare for animals.

He added, “The vaccination plan for this year includes an electronic registration of livestock breeders that includes all information about them for follow-up and continuous communication with them.”

The record also helps to speed up investigation and determine the places of infection.
