Harub Dental staff observe 'Earth Day'
The staff of Harub Dental Surgery, Mawaleh, yesterday observed Earth Day – an annual global observance on April 22 - when around 1 billion people participate in activities around the world to draw attention to the urgency of the climate crisis, environmental degradation, and the need for immediate action.
The 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of this observance which first began in 1970. It also presents a major opportunity for significant climate action announcements in different countries around the globe. The theme for this year is: Restore our Earth.
The employees of Harub Dental Surgery drove from Mawaleh to a destination in Izki, a beautiful 'somewhat abandoned' archeological site called Harat al Yemen. They spent over four hours picking up trash, plastics and glass bottles from around the site, collectively weighing around 118kg, disclosed Dr Laila Harub al Kharusi who was part of the team.
“It was our small contribution to making a difference for our country. Due to social distancing guidelines and abiding by the law we did this just by ourselves this year. But, we hope other parties could join in similar drives like we did,” she said.
