With an aim to bring the best of the world to the Omani market, the Infrastructure, Technology, Industrial & Consumer Solutions (ITICS) cluster of MHD LLC is focusing on restructuring its businesses to serve the local market by providing top global brands, along with the best technical expertise in infrastructure, building systems and industrial products segments.

Through its Infrastructure & Building Systems Division (IBS), MHD-ITICS offers a wide range of products, services and solutions that include commercial air-conditioning systems, commercial and industrial kitchen and laundry products, commercial and industrial refrigeration, and a wide range of construction and building material (plasters, plastering chemicals, paints, sanitary ware, waterproofing solutions, drainage systems, surface bonding geotextiles, expansion joints, etc.). The division also offers high quality differentiated services to customers, to maintain and upgrade the systems that they install.

Virtually all the products and solutions brought by the IBS Division of MHD-ITICS represent major global brands that rank among top three in terms of market leadership, according to Partha Kundu, senior general manager and head of the Infrastructure & Building Systems Division of MHD-ITICS.

The IBS Division, Kundu said, is uniquely positioned to offer products, solutions and services for virtually all aspects of a commercial or infrastructure project. The range of products include high quality major international brands such as Daikin chillers for air-conditioning all types of large buildings and industries; Baltimore cooling towers for buildings, refrigerated warehouses and process cooling in manufacturing; Hitachi air-conditioners for homes, mosques, and commercial spaces, etc.

In the commercial air-conditioning segment, which is one of the group’s most high profile and visible business verticals, IBS also brings products and solutions from Hitachi, one of the top global brands in air-conditioning.

Moreover, for the catering, hospitality and dining space, such as hotels, restaurants, hospitals and other commercial establishments, IBS has brought some of the world’s best brands to the Omani market. It offers ovens from Rational (Germany), cooking equipment from several renowned manufacturers in Europe and the US, commercial dishwashers from Fagor and Hobart, laundry equipment from Speed Queen (US), professional cleaning equipment from Karcher, as well as a host of other products.

“We bring to Oman some of the most renowned brands in the world, coupled with the best technical expertise available in the country. This combination makes us the most dependable and trustworthy partner for our customers,” Kundu told Muscat Daily.

He emphasised that their top priority remains to serve the Omani market and community with the best technology that is reliable and user friendly. “Our people are re-dedicating themselves to better understand the challenges customers face, and serve them to their complete satisfaction. While we bring contemporary world-class technological innovations to our customers, we are also internally doing a massive revamp, with major investments in upgrading equipment and introducing leading digital tools that help us deliver superior and differentiated services to the customers.”

To serve the building materials market, IBS is supplying high-quality sanitaryware from Ideal Standard/Armitage Shanks (UK), chrome fittings from Delabie (France), superior quality premixed plasters, construction chemicals and paints from Conmix, drainage products from ACO (UK), manhole covers from several leading global manufacturers such as Saint Gobain, geotextiles, expansion joints, as well as copper pipes from Crane (South Korea) and Kembla (Australia).

“It would be fair to say that many of our products and services would be used in almost every major project in the country. Customers look to us for solutions that have the lowest cost of ownership, are completely reliable, ensure ease of use and cause minimum environmental impact. All of these are backed by top-of-the-line service that sets the standard for others,” Kundu explained.

He said the solutions from IBS do not just make people comfortable and safe; they are also environmentally responsible and contribute significantly towards making them green buildings.

In the industrial products space, MHD-ITICS supports the core sectors of Oman’s economy – oil and gas, manufacturing, construction and real estate sectors – with high-quality reliable products that enable high uptime, efficiency, productivity and safety, through its Industrial Products Division (IPD). This division also supplies security and automation products to various government agencies and the private sector, for projects and locations requiring access restriction. The range of products include blockers, barriers, bollards, high security fencing, as well as specialised gates.

IPD is also engaged in the business of commercial and industrial lighting, both external and internal, as well as commercial weighing systems such as weighbridges and in-motion weighing systems.

According to TusharVaidya, deputy director and head of the Industrial Products Division of MHD-ITICS, the division represents some of the world’s leading brands such as MK from Honeywell, GE, Gutor from Schneider, Panasonic, Avery, and many more such names.

Explaining the IPD Division’s objective of achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction, Vaidya said, “We wish to be the partner of choice for the industry sectors that we cater to. We have always offered our customers the latest products and technologies, coupled with highly effective and efficient service, all delivered in the most customer friendly manner. We firmly believe that this strategy has made us one of the market leaders.”

He added that IPD would continue targeting high growth in its core business areas and to work towards remaining the ‘vendor of choice’ for customers by improving offerings and bringing new products and solutions.

Vaidya was confident that the expansion plans chalked out by the Industrial Products Division of MHD-ITICS would lead to the division growing multifold in a very short period. As part of their new strategy, IPD plans to devote increased resources and expertise to bring new and innovative industrial products and solutions to the Omani market. He stated that the division is looking to add energy efficiency solutions, solar power solutions, switchgears, new security products and services, lighting products for outdoor applications, solar-powered street lighting, and road safety products to its industrial products portfolio, adding that the government’s recent decision to move towards the cost reflective tariffs and focus on energy efficiency will create demand for new solar energy-based products.

In the post-pandemic era, IPD also has its sights on expanding into the manufacturing of products of relevance.

While retaining the essence of the business that MHD Group’s founder the late Mohsin Haider Darwish had close to his heart, MHD-ITICS is working towards modernising its businesses with latest technological advancements and backing them with industry leading service and advisory support.

“The late Mohsin Haider Darwish’s mission was simple: To bring to Oman products and solutions that improve the life of the people in the sultanate, while offering unbeatable value in terms of reliability, durability, and ease of use. His ideas continue to guide us today as we modernise our businesses to make them contemporary,” Honourable Lujaina Mohsin Darwish, chairperson of MHD-ITICS stated.

With a renewed focus on growth, diversification and strategic expansion, MHD-ITICS is aligning its business strategy with Oman’s Vision 2040 which it believes will drive the sustainable growth for the sultanate.

“Oman’s Vision 2040 sets out a clear plan and timeline for aggressively expanding the non-oil sectors. We see this as a great opportunity, and envisage our growth coming from new large developments like tourism projects, new industries, logistics hubs, and office projects, both public and commercial,” Honourable Lujaina said.
