‘Dragon Gang’ head arrested in Sohar

Security forces have arrested Khalfan bin Said bin Mohammed al Muqbali who had established the ‘Dragon Gang’ that was responsible for violence in Sohar.

The accused has been charged with vandalising public and private properties and threatening citizens in Sohar. He was also involved in preparing explosives and incendiary substances. The accused has confessed to his involvement in the protests in Sohar. His arrest follows the earlier arrest of other gang members.

Three held with explosive-making materials

Three persons have been arrested in an operation carried out by military and security forces in the Batinah region, according to a security source.

Amor bin Khamis al Miabali, Khalid bin Hamad al Badi and Khalid bin Said al Badi were arrested on charges of possessing explosive-making materials and weapons.

After investigations, the trio admitted that they kept the material with the intention of making incendiary substances and bombs. The seized material was inspected and found to be extremely dangerous if used for criminal purposes. Security bodies earlier indicated that they identified some persons who purchased weapons, ammunition and fuel with the intention of using them during riots
