It was the seventh title of the season for Shonal, who is competing in three events – IAME X30 Series, Dubai Bambino Cup and Rotax Max Challenge – this season.
The win in Ras al Khaimah was third in row for Shonal in the IAME X30 Series, and clearly underlines his dominance in his class.
So far, Shonal has competed in eight races and except for a runner-up finish in the Rotax Max Challenge Series, he had swept each and every round of the three series.
However, the latest victory did not come easy for Shonal, who suffered a blow in the first time-trial in Ras al Khaimah, as his engine failed on the grid.
He was forced to quit the first time-trial. The resultant penalty cost him dear as Shonal was placed last and lost 20 points.
But, Shonal was undeterred by the failure and came back strongly in the next two time-trials to win by a big margin and claim the overall honours.
While the first time-trial was won by Romania's Lennard Titica in a time of 1m:08.387s on the 1.069 km circuit.
Shonal timed 1m:07.012s, the fastest lap, in the second time-trial and in the final time-trail, he again clocked 1m:07.708s to take the top spot.
Later, Shonal thanked his coach and former Oman international racer, Sanad al Rawahi, and WMS (Al Wahaibi Motor Sports).
His next race will be the fourth round of the Rotax Max Challenge in Al Ain, UAE, on December 14-15.
