Muscat to host 2018 AFC Annual Awards

Muscat will host the Asian football’s biggest and most highly-anticipated annual celebration - the AFC Annual Awards - next year.

A proposal from the Oman Football Association (OFA) for the celebration of Asian football to be held in Muscat in 2018 was accepted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) executive committee at a meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday.

The meeting  was chaired by the AFC president, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa.

The AFC Annual Awards 2017 will take place on Wednesday at the Aksra Theatre King Power in Bangkok.

UAE’s Omar Abdulrahman al Amoudi  will be looking to secure his second straight Player of the Year Award trophy. The other nominees for best player award are Syria's Omar Kharbin and China's Wu Lei.

The OFA delegation, comprising its chairman, Sheikh Salim al Wahaibi, and its CEO, Said Othman al Balushi, is in Bangkok to attend the awards ceremony.
