The win that came off the penultimate ball of the final over helped Muscat tie with Assarain on top of the table with 20 points each from seven games played.
Batting first, Assarain was jolted by Badal Singh’s three quick strikes as it was reduced it to 72 for four. Assarain was dismissed for 182 in the 49th over with Singh grabbing four while Rajesh Ranpura and Ayaan Khan took three wickets each.
In reply, Muscat was struggling at 96 for five but Jatinder and Ranpura (23) took the total to 159 before two quick run-outs gave Assarain hopes of a win.
Requiring three to win in the final over, Muscat lost Jaspreet Singh on the first ball off Shahan Akram.
No 11 Munis Ansari took three balls to take a single to get Jatinder back on strike. Needing two to win of the last two balls, Jatinder struck a boundary on the fifth ball to seal a thrilling victory.

Girish to meet Murali in final
K K Girish set up a title clash with R Murali in the veterans’ singles of the annual tennis tournament, organised by the Indian Social Club Oman (ISC).
Top-seeded Girish defeated Percy Pereira 6-4, 6-3 in the first semifinal while second-seeded Murali overpowered Ronnie Pereira 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal match.
