The ArabNet Startup Battle competition arrives in Muscat for the first time

The first edition of the ArabNet Startup Battle - Muscat competition brought together digital entrepreneurs and investors from across Oman on November 25, eager to watch 10 of the best local startups pitch on stage at the startup competition of the year. Sponsored by Riyada, the competition took place during the exhibition of entrepreneurs’ products “Omani Innovation”.

The event concluded with the announcement of three winners. Supplierscave for Anjani Kanthi Kiran Duddukuru won first place. It is an online platform from the UAE connecting suppliers and buyers of industrial products and services. Hadaya for Alaa Al-Bulushi, an online marketplace from Muscat for flowers, confectioneries and gifts, came in 2nd place. Also from Muscat, YallaCare for Ghalib Nomani is a platform that allows patients to book online appointments and explore treatment costs, and it came in 3rd place.

Competition judges included regional digital leaders such as Sharifa AlBarami, Managing Director at OMAN Technology Fund; Talal Hasan, Legal & Commercial Manager of IDO Investments at IDO; Fadi Nasser, General Manager ICT and Senior Advisor CEO at Omantel; Badriya Abdullah Khmais Al Hinai, Director of Planning and Quality Assurance at Riyada; Christos Mastoras, ‎Founder and Managing Partner at Iliad Partners; and Sharif El-Badawi, Partner at 500 Startups.

Supplierscave, Hadaya and YallaCare will join other Startup Battle winners from Beirut, Riyadh, Dubai, Kuwait and Cairo to compete at the Regional Startup Championship in Dubai. All local winners will be flown to Dubai for the ArabNet Digital Summit 2018, taking place on April 30 - May 1, which will grant them access to world class investors, international media and a free booth to showcase their startup. 1 Championship winner will receive a $20,000 cash prize and many more in-kind prizes.
