Sultanate receives injured Iranian from Saudi Arabia

An Iranian citizen who was injured in the merchant vessel Savis in the Red Sea in June arrived in Oman from Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

An official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said, “As per the Royal Order of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and in response to the requests of the governments of Saudi Arabia and Iran, Oman has received the Iranian who was injured in the Iranian merchant ship Savis in the Red Sea.

“The injured Iranian citizen was transferred on Saturday from Saudi Arabia to the sultanate.” Medical care is being provided to him in preparation for his return home, MoFA said.


Oman calls on Iran, the UK to resolve disputes
Oman has urged Iran to release the British ship and called on the Islamic Republic and the UK to resolve their differences through diplomatic means.

In a statement on its Twitter account on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that the sultanate is following with great interest the maritime navigation issues in the Strait of Hormuz. “We call on all countries to exercise restraint, respect maritime navigation lines and the international maritime law.

“We are in contact with all the parties to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels crossing the strait while maintaining their right to navigation through the territorial waters.”
