State Council holds open day for Omani media professionals

The State Council on Wednesday conducted an open day for Omani media professionals by hosting a meeting titled ‘The Council and Media: Cooperation and Integration’.

The event was held under the patronage of Dr Khalid bin Salim al Saidi, secretary general of the State Council, in the presence of a number of media representatives of various local media, stated a press release.

Abdullah bin Saleh al Buraiki, assistant secretary general for Media and Public Relations, said that the programme aimed to enhance cooperation between the council and the media, and build linkages with media professionals who cover the work and activities of the council. Through the meeting, he said, the council was keen to express appreciation for the efforts of the media and it was an opportunity to brainstorm and exchange views on everything that would enhance media coverage of the council’s work and activities.

Dr Abdullah bin Khamis al Kindi, associate professor of Journalism at Sultan Qaboos University presented two lectures, titled ‘An introduction to the parliamentary media’ and ‘Mechanisms to strengthen parliamentary media’.
