The museum officials guided the delegation during the tour, which included viewing the five halls and its state-of-the–art facilities, stated a press release.
The museum displays many aspects of Omani life, spanning several centuries. The museum is an important project, responsible for preserving the Omani heritage and material and non-material collectables of all manifestations of the history, culture and arts of the sultanate, in a form that highlights the cultural and historical dimensions of the sultanate.
The delegation viewed a film on the museum and Oman’s rich historical heritage. The delegation was briefed about the latest additions to the museum’s archaeological collections. The visitors also learnt about the ambitious programme for the preservation and conservation of these pieces, which is the largest such programme in the Middle East.
The State Council members praised the efforts made by the government in the field of preserving the national and cultural heritage.
