Muscat -

Six persons have been arrested for poaching Arabian gazelles in the Saih al Ala area of Jalan Bani Bu Ali.

A press release stated that the six were held with ten dead gazelles and traditional hunting rifles. ‘The arrests were made after a tip-off received by the wildlife unit of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs at Jabal Kahwan, in cooperation with the ROP and Public Prosecution in the wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali,’ the release added.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused.

‘The sultanate is taking a lot of efforts to preserve the gazelle,’ said a statement issued by the ministry.
