ROP arrests Asian for stealing RO43,000

Six persons have been arrested in Muscat and Dhofar in separate incidents for stealing, forgery and practising medicine without a licence.

In Muscat, an Asian national has been arrested for stealing RO43,000 from a supermarket in Ruwi. “The incident occurred on August 10 during the Eid holidays. The case has been registered under the Ruwi Police Station,” an ROP official said

The arrest was made by officials from the Criminal Investigations Department at Muscat Police Command. “After initial investigations, we found that it was not an inside job. The arrest was made within 24 hours of the incident,” the official said.

The accused has been referred to the judicial authorities to complete the investigation. In another incident, officials from the Bausher Police Station arrested an Asian national after he defrauded another Asian of RO25,000 through forged work contract.

In addition, Muscat Police Command arrested another person for stealing money and two mobile phones from a house. Meanwhile, Muscat Police Command has cracked another case of electrical cables stolen from a house under construction. In Dhofar governorate, the ROP arrested two Arabs on charges of entering the country illegally and comitting robbery.

Also, another Asian was arrested for practising medicine without a licence. Legal proceedings against them are being completed.
