Muscat -

The ROP said on Wednesday that it has made certain changes in the validity period of entering the sultanate after a tourist visa is issued.

Now, the entry validation period will vary from one-three months depending upon the visa category.

Brig Gen Ahmed bin Sultan al Nabhani, Director General of Passports and Residency said, “There are three options for tourists to enter Oman within a validation period from the date of issuance of the visa.”

Brig Gen Nabhani said that the tourist visa which is valid for ten days, the entry validation is for a period of three months and the same is applicable for the one-month visa. “For the one-year tourist visa, the entry validation period is one month only from the date of issuance.”

Oman has reintroduced tourist visas valid for ten days at a nominal fee of RO5. Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsen al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs issued the decision (No 129/2018) on June 13, which came into effect from June 14.

The decision includes amending nine items as well as adding two new items of ‘entry visas’ in Article 29 of the executive regulations of the Foreigners’ Residency Law.

As for the residents of GCC countries in certain job categories, Brig Gen Nabhani said that the new amendments have enabled them to enter Oman as tourists without a sponsor. “The visa is for a one-time entry and is valid for four weeks with the possible extension of one week. The entry validity period of this visa is one month from the date of issuance.”

The new amendments have also made it easier to apply for a student’s visa, owner’s visa, registration of ownership visa and an employment contract visa. In this category, the applicant must enter Oman within a period of three months from the date of issuance. He added that all types of visas are available electronically via the eVisa system as well as upon access to the ports of entry.
