Pact for Rub al Khali border complex signed

Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, signed an agreement to construct a border passage complex between Oman and Saudi Arabia in Rub al Khali (Empty Quarter) on Monday.

The agreement was also sign-ed by the deputy chairman of the board of directors, Galfar Engineering and Contracting, which will implement the project. According to an ROP statement, the facility will facilitate the movement of people and increase trade volumes between the two countries.

Galfar officials said the development will be located on a 50,000sq m plot on the Omani side of the border. It will be similar to the UAE border post, but will be at a single location.
