Organic India introduces wide range of products in Oman

Muscat -

With an aim to have healthy lifestyle through the good old tea, Organic India introduced a range of products in Oman at the Passage to India restaurant on Tuesday.

A wide range of products including 11 varieties of tea, organic honey, organic ghee (clarified butter), virgin coconut oil as well as food supplements such as wheatgrass, moringa and psyllium husk were showcased. In the coming months, a variety of organic spices, pulses, rice and oils will also be made available in the Oman market.

Currently, this range is exclusively available at The Sultan Center and is proving to be extremely popular with the customers. Gurpreet Singh, general manager, export for Organic India, was recently in Muscat along with its exclusive distributors Barakat Muscat International, headed by Araj Mohandas. Mohandas said, “Barakat Muscat International has endeavoured to introduce brands in Oman that are not only established but lead a healthy lifestyle. With Organic India, we are reiterating our commitment to bringing in more organic offerings.”

There is an overall shift in the food industry in favour of organic products owing to health benefits, said Singh. “Organic India is one of the few companies in the world that believes and works on backward integration i.e. guiding and assisting farmers in organic farming.

“The high quality standards that Organic India delivers can be appraised by the fact that many of its products are retailed at Fab India, India’s largest private retail platforms for craft-based products. While natural and organic fare does come at a higher price, the gap is not that wide for some products and consumers are willing to pay more for the benefits it offers.”

He added that with more and more people opting for healthier, safer and quality food, organic food is once again showing the way. “It is not only better for the environment, animals, small and local farmers but also helps combat allergies, tastes better and is good for overall wellness. And yes, there is a small price to pay in comparison to conventional food.”

Barakat Muscat International was established in 2008. It is the largest distributor of fresh juices in Oman. Organic India is a multi-national company founded in 1997 that caters to a variety of tulsi teas. The brand has expanded its portfolio to include a mix of organic, ayurvedic, herbal and natural products that provide holistic wellness.
