Ooredoo engages next generation leaders via Club’s Youth Camps

Muscat -

Dedicated to supporting Oman’s youth, Ooredoo hosted the fifth Clubs’ Youth Camp in the city of Salalah. The week-long camp brought together the top 60 participants from previous camps including Muscat, Sohar and Sur, as well as youth leaders from Dhofar.

Organised by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, the initiative provided the most successful participants an opportunity to continue their leadership journey through Ooredoo’s entrepreneurial training programme, Spring Forward. Raed Mohammed Dawood, director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “The 2018 Clubs’ Youth Camp extended its reach across the sultanate, bringing together 380 participants from a number of clubs. We are incredibly proud to see the progress participants made in working together, developing their skills and giving back to Oman.

“We understand how important it is to have leaders who are able to take their community forward in a sustainable way and fully recognise that youth are the backbone of this nation. We are proud to be working towards inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.”

The camp empowered and engaged youth aged between 18-25 years through a number of workshops and seminars in the arts, sports, management and science. An opportunity for participants to get hands-on experience and knowledge in order to better their local clubs, the camp also included a ‘Development Village’, which taught participants skills in electrical work, mechanics, interior design and coding.

As well as the skills training, there were also a number of social and recreational activities designed to not only unite youth from across the sultanate but engage and connect them with their heritage through field trips to cultural destinations and volunteer opportunities.

The 2018 Salalah Clubs’ Youth Camp also featured a unique opportunity for its participants to receive training from Spring Forward trainer, Ayesha al Shoily. The training aimed at further developing the strength of its participants by teaching them how to be more aware, build team-working skills and demonstrate the required leadership skills to rise to the top. A number of leaders from the Salalah youth camp were offered seats to join the next wave of Spring Forward, continuing the empowerment and aspiration of Oman’s future leaders. A champion of social growth, Ooredoo has earned a reputation for working with recognised sporting teams and government institutions to inspire the next generation of leaders.
