Omifco signs pact with MRMWR to fund beautification of Sur market

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) on Monday signed an agreement with the Oman India Fertilizer Company (Omifco) to fund the development and beautification of Sur Old Market in South Sharqiyah.

H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed al Shihi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources and S G Gedigeri, CEO, Omifco signed the agreement. The project, to be built at a cost of RO499,192, will include the improvement, development and beautification of the market in accordance with the terms and conditions agreed upon in the agreement.


The architecture of the market will have the influence of Oman’s heritage and also reflect modernity. The minister said that the agreement is in line with the social responsibility of the private sector and its national role in supporting and financing development projects in the sultanate in various sectors.
