Octal receives internationally recognised halal certification

Muscat -

Following a rigorous and systematic evaluation, products by Salalah-based manufacturer Octal received the Halal certification from RACS Quality Certificates Issuing Services, a worldwide quality conformity assessment body, making it the first packaging materials company in Oman to receive this certification.

The credential guarantees the hygiene, sanitation, safety and Sharia’a compliance of all of Octal’s packaging solutions from processing to the storage of materials. Octal’s latest certification is in full compliance with MS: 2565:2014, Malaysia’s halal packaging general guidelines, the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and the international standards of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.

It also validates the company’s long-standing commitment to producing products in full compliance with the highest regional and international standards.

Ahmed al Najjar, director of Government Affairs at Octal, said, “This credential enhances the marketability of our products to the more than 1.6bn global halal consumers. Not only will it help our customers receive the halal certification but it will also ensure that our products have access to the halal industry, expected to be worth UD$3 trillion worldwide by 2060. Additionally, the qualifications come courtesy of RACS, the first and only accredited halal certification body in the GCC by the Gulf Accreditation Centre.”
