The event attracted local and international speakers focusing on three main topics namely, managing risks in higher education institutions, crisis management plan and readiness for emergencies on the national level in addition to HSE practices. The conference aimed at enhancing risk management culture among participating organisations and society and exchanging knowledge and experiences between experts and delegates.
OETC presented two papers in the conference in addition to the participation of 14 employees who are involved in the risk management in the company.
OETC has established the Risk Management Department in line with the company’s vision, objectives related to policies and systems to improve decision-making mechanisms and business efficiency.
Eng Said Hamed al Barashdi delivered a presentation about ‘Managing Risks in Construction Projects’ highlighting risk management methodologies which are based on three main pillars of managing risks as a success factor in the construction project management context, drivers and obstacles facing project risk management and their impacts on the organisation’s risk management as well as challenges and obstacles related to communication channels between different departments.
The second paper presented by Eng Mohammed Saif al Wardi titled ‘Best risk management practices applied in OETC’ covered the four processes used in risk management, namely, definition, analysis, evaluation and resolution. The success of any risk management initiative is based on the effectiveness of management framework in providing the foundations and measures that will be covered by risk management across the organisation and among all levels.
