This portal includes the service New Commercial Registration, which allows businesses to complete their company’s registration procedure online in a matter of minutes. The portal allows companies to manage their processes online with minimal paperwork. In the stringent testing phase, the new technology has proven over 99 per cent success rate and in addition to a web portal is also available as an App for Android and iPhones.
The New Commercial Registration was officially launched recently at InterContinental in Muscat. Before that, more than 3,500 companies were registered during the testing phase of the service.
The technology behind the Invest Easy Portal was created by Nortal, a company which has had huge successes with similar projects in other countries, most notably Estonia. Nortal collaborated with Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Information Technology Authority to bring this concept into the public business arena to ensure that Oman continues to be a place where business can be carried out quickly and easily as well as with honesty and transparency.
“The project is currently about half way through,” said Peeter Smitt, business area director of Nortal. “To date there are 23 services available. Many of these services formerly required coming to the front office but now with the new technology they can be completed online, within a matter of minutes.”
He added, “Our goal is to create services that provide meaningful impact to the society and the new Commercial Registration Service is a prime example. We are not only translating a paper service to digital, we are in fact making the whole registration process less bureaucratic, faster and more transparent than ever.
