New maritime communication system to be showcased at TransOman 2014

A new, comprehensive and fully compliant international shore-based maritime radio-communications and vessel identification system, currently being set up in the sultanate will be showcased at TransOman 2014. 

A press release stated that Oman's premier event for transport, shipping and logistics will take place from June 3 to 5 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

“As TransOman 2014 will be one of the most recognised events of the transport and logistics sector in the GCC region, the event will be an excellent platform for our company to showcase the state of the art maritime radio – communications in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), vessel identification system and other value-added services being introduced in Oman.

“This will help create awareness about the shore-based communication services being provided for the shipping industry and general maritime community in Oman,” Eng Mubarak al Hadadi, general manager, Qnective Middle East, was quoted in the release as saying.

It stated that the company's maritime communication technologies and services will be highly beneficial to ministries and other stakeholders responsible for maritime affairs, search and rescue, pollution control, general maritime safety and security along with the shipping industry, ports, fishing and pleasure craft community.

TransOman 2014 will be held alongside ProjectOman 2014, an ideal platform for showcasing Oman's developing market.
