Muscat International Film Festival in March 2020

More than 100 films from around the world will be screened at the 11th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF). 

The prestigious event will witness several cine celebrities, industry experts and shall host regionally and globally acclaimed film personalities. The event will be held from March 24-29, 2020 under the Oman Film and Theatre Society (OFTS), in association with various ministries, public authorities and private entities.

An official from the society added, “We are still finalising the list of movies to be screened, the invitees and venues. We shall soon release details on our chief guests and participants.”

The film festival is expected to attract hundreds of short films from Oman and the GCC.

The official added, “MIFF is a good chance for filmmakers to showcase their creative talent. Like the previous years, this year too, we plan to have a glamorous opening and closing ceremony. Around 120 films were screened at the 2018 edition of MIFF.”

The last edition of MIFF, presented by the Ministry of Tourism in association with Oman Airports, was held in March 2018 under the auspices of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs, at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) auditorium.

It hosted film stars from around the world, including Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, award winning Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair, Egyptian actor Amr Wakad, Egyptian director Ali Badrakhan, singer Maher Zain, Syrian filmmaker Ghassan Massoud and Italian actor Franco Nero.
