Muscat-Bangkok flight makes emergency landing in India

An Oman Air flight from Muscat to Bangkok was diverted to India's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad due to medical emergency on Wednesday.

“Oman Air flight number WY811 bound for Bangkok, Thailand on October 4, was diverted to Hyderabad, India, because of a sick guest on board. The captain made the decision to divert after it became apparent that the guest required urgent medical attention. The plane landed safely in Hyderabad at 3.17 UTC,” tweeted the national carrier.

The tweet further read, “The flight with the remaining passengers departed for Bangkok and scheduled to arrive at 16.05 UTC.”

According to Indian media reports, the health of a 63 year old passenger travelling on the Oman Air flight WY811 suddenly deteriorated during the journey. The flight was then diverted to Hyderabad airport and the sick passenger was rushed to the city’s Apollo Medical Centre. The hospital declared the passenger brought dead upon arrival.
