The ministry participates in this exhibition year on year, as it is considered as a platform that brings together experts in related fields and stakeholders in a scope of conferences, exhibitions and events, which are associated with the tourism sector, thereby contributing to the process of planning, networking with meetings’ and event organisers and communicating with stakeholders from around the world.
Highlighting the sultanate's keenness to participate annually in this specialised international exhibition, Salim Adi al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, said, “Our participation in IMEX is part of the ministry’s ongoing effort to promote conferences and incentives tourism that is part of Oman's national tourism strategy 2040. As a nation that is full of promising opportunities, the sultanate’s presence contributes towards promoting tourism products and services such as conferences and incentives. Additionally, our participation provides us with the opportunity to introduce and promote a number of tourism infrastructure projects like integrated tourism projects and hotel facilities, including the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.”
Participating in the IMEX exhibition highlights Omani tourism’s varied features that distinguish the sultanate from the rest of the world and promote it as an ideal destination for organising events, exhibitions and conferences. That’s not all, the sultanate is also promoted as a new tourism centre with specialised services and world-class facilities that can attract leading international events of all kinds, particularly those of the Oman Convention Bureau, which is participating in this exhibition to introduce its services and products. The bureau’s representatives will be presenting the facilities that are provided for enterprises that are supporting the incentive and conferences tourism industry. Additionally, they will be highlighting the effort that is being made to promote Oman as an attractive centre for international events as well as emphasizing the importance of maintaining Oman’s status as a responsible and sustainable destination for tourism.
The Bureau is working to promote Omani tourism, specifically in relation to local regulations’, procedures within external promotional channels and in cooperation with relevant organizations. In addition to this, it contributes in serving all institutions and establishments which are related to the tourism sector in the sultanate whilst also encouraging international partners to host events in Oman. At the same time, it also helps in bringing together all efforts that highlight the sultanate as a unique tourism destination, while promoting its rich cultural heritage and modern tourism elements.
The sultanate’s participation at IMEX opens a wide range of horizons through which the advantages which the sultanate is offering in the conferences and exhibitions industry are highlighted. Visitors are briefed on tourism services and facilities and the effective role that the Ministry of Tourism is playing to develop all tourism destinations in Oman. The ministry’s representatives shed light on everything new in the tourism sector: The latest infrastructure and facilities, especially the Oman Convention Bureau, the development of Muscat International Airport, the growth of flights’ network, the Oman Air the national carrier of the sultanate’s fleet, as well as the integrated tourism projects.
Through its participation, the ministry aims to enable travel and tourism companies and other tourism establishments within the sultanate to grow their networks as well as gain experience and be inspired by their counterparts from around the world. Furthermore, the ministry is keen to cooperate with partners in order to integrate efforts to promote their programmes and offers to markets abroad. Nine companies that specialise in tourism services are participating in the exhibition under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism this year.
By participating in various exhibitions and international forums, the ministry enables institutions such as Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Anantara al Jabal al Akhdar Resort, Bahwan Tourism, Gulf Dunes, National Travel & Tourism (NTT), Oman Convention & Exhibitions Centre, Shangri-La Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa, UBAR Conferences & Events and Gulf Ventures to introduce their services and present their promotional programmes to the rest of the world.
It is noteworthy that IMEX attracts more than 15,000 participants annually, including events and companies’ meeting organisers. The exhibition receives nearly 9,000 visitors and has an advanced digital platform that allows participants to schedule appointments with each other in advance.
