Malayalam Wing to hold final 20th anniversary celebrations

Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman’s Malayalam Wing is gearing up for the grand finale of their 20th anniversary celebrations on March 4 at Grand Millennium Muscat at 7pm.

Established in 1996, Malayalam Wing is one of the most active linguistic wings of ISC Oman, serving the community by promoting the rich heritage and culture of their motherland whilst giving due importance to humanitarian services as part of their social responsibility. Although formed 20 years ago as ‘Malayalam Wing’, they have a history of more than 20 years as a prominent cultural organisation in Oman viz Kerala Cultural Centre.

Their 20th anniversary celebrations were held in three parts spread over one year. The first phase of the celebrations was formally inaugurated by H E Indra Mani Pandey, India’s Ambassador to Oman, on April 21 in a ceremony held at The Grand Hall, Al Falaj Hotel, where the great Malayalam cine legend Padmashree Madhu was the guest of honour. The second part of the celebration was held on December 16 during Keralotsavam (a festival to commemorate the creation of Kerala state), where poet and writer Prof V Madhusoodanan Nair was honoured with the Pravasa Kairali Literary Award.   

For the grand finale, Dr Babu Paul IAS will be the special guest. H E Pandey will be the chief guest. Dr Sathish Nambiar, chairman, ISC Oman, will grace the occasion beside distinguished guests from the business community, social organisations and the media. To commemorate their 20 years of community services, on this auspicious occasion, Malayalam Wing intends to extend a helping hand to Oman Cancer Association to strengthen their campaign to spread awareness about cancer.
