Indian Community Festival to be held at Amerat Park on April 28, 29

The Kerala Wing of Indian Social Club Muscat will organise the Indian Community Festival at Amerat Park on April 28 and 29.

This year, more than 30 artistes from India will take part in the festival. Noted Malayalam film director Kamal will be the chief guest while H E Indra Mani Pandey, India's Ambassador to Oman will be the guest of honour.

Kerala Folklore Academy vice chairman and veteran Mappilapatt singer Eranholi Moosa will be bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Mappilapattu.

As in the previous years, the legendary Kairali-Anathapuri award will be a major attraction of the event which the wing has been holding for the past six years recognising individuals for the humanitarian and outstanding contributions they have made to the society.

The recipient of 2017 Kairali-Anathapuri award will be Murukan also known as ‘Theruvoram’ Murukan.

He is the founder of 'Theruvoram', an NGO working for the rescue and rehabilitation of street children and the elderly. Along with the Indian Community Festival, organisers will also hold a Science Project Contest for children (U-17) from international and Omani private schools. The Science Project Contest will be held at the same venue.
