IDA Singapore offers ideas for smart govt services

Muscat -

With the aim of making Muscat a smart city which uses technology for transport, cleanliness and other government services, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore shared its experience, expertise and knowledge at Comex 2015.

Kevin Chan, centre director (Middle East) and the first secretary, IDA, Singapore, said that the plan is to launch a mobile application in Oman, similar to the one introduced in Singapore.

The app, apart from helping enforce cleanliness, also helps maintain transparency and keeps track of work.  β€œFor example, if an authority has been given a cleaning contract for an area, the supervisor in charge is asked to upload a picture before, during and after the cleaning process with this app. This not only helps keep track of the work in progress but also helps maintain transparency of information. Workers cannot tamper with this app,” he said.
