H E Alawi meets Chinese counterpart, discusses economics ties

H E Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs met with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, within the framework of his current official visit to China.

H E Alawi conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to President Xi Jinping of China.

The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs asked H E Alawi to convey greetings and best wishes of the Chinese President to His Majesty the Sultan.

The two sides held a session of talks. They discussed means of enhancing relations between the two countries, as well as promoting fields of cooperation on economic, trade and investment matters.

On the sidelines of the talks, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Oman and China for cooperation within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt (One Belt One Road Initiative), the 21st  century Maritime Silk Road.

Earlier on Wednesday, H E Alawi met the vice president of the Central Bank of China, the executive director of the China Development Bank, China Banking Regulatory Commission and China Export and Credit Insurance Company. The two sides discussed means of financial and investment cooperation among the institutions in both countries.

Relations between Oman and China are witnessing a rapid development in various fields. On May 25, the two countries will mark the 40th  anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.

The meetings were attended by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, deputy chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), Abdul Salam Mohammed al Murshidi, CEO of the State General Reserve Fund, Tahir bin Salim al Amri, executive president of CBO and H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh al Sa'adi, Ambassador of Oman to China.
