Geminid meteor showers to light up sultanate’s skies this week

The world and the sultanate’s skies will witness Geminid meteor showers on Wednesday and Thursday. 

Astrologist Ibrahim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, a member of the Omani Astronomical Society said that the meteor showers known as Geminid is the best meteor shower to happen throughout the year.

He added that the astronomical calculation shows that the meteor shower will reach its peak on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. A number of meteors and fire balls will lit the sultanate’s skies and the world in an awesome scene. The showers are expected to produce around 120 meteors per hour. The phenomenon can be seen with naked eye from an open place away from light and pollution sources.
