Four new cases of MERS-CoV detected: MoH

Muscat -

Four new cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) have been detected in Oman, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The ministry on Monday tweeted stating, “The total number of recorded cases from various governorates in the sultanate since 2013 stands at 18.”

The new cases are receiving necessary medical care at a hospital in the sultanate. “The ministry affirms its continued efforts to monitor and control the disease through the effective epidemiological surveillance system,” it added.

“All hospitals are capable of dealing in such cases,” the ministry said.

“We urge all citizens and residents to comply with preventative measures to control infection and maintain hygiene when sneezing and coughing.”
