Folk troupe performs as part of ‘Festival of India in Oman’ event

A folk dance and music troupe from Jammu and Kashmir performed as part of the ‘Festival of India in Oman’ at Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, on Sunday. The troupe will next perform in Salalah on Tuesday. It has already performed in Sohar and Sur.

The troupe presented a rich bouquet of folk dance and music from different regions of Jammu and Kashmir, including Sufiana music, and Rouff, Hafiznagma, Bachha nagma, Dogri and Bhoomra dance.

The performance was attended by over 600 guests including diplomats and prominent Omanis and Indians. It was also attended by H E Mohammed Yousuf al Zarafi, Undersecretary for Administration and Finance Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Sheikh Hilal Marhoon Salem al Ma’amari, Chief of West Asia Department, MoFA.

The event was held as part of the first-ever ‘Festival of India in Oman’ event which is being organised by the Embassy of India in Muscat in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of India, from November 2016 to March this year in Muscat, Sohar, Sur and Salalah. As the last event of the festival, the embassy will organise an Indian Food Festival from March 15 to 19.
