An ROP official said investigations had revealed that one of the accused was forging cheques abroad and sending them to Oman for clearance through local banks. After the clearance, the money was transferred abroad.

The seven members of the gang have been arrested and several fake cheques seized, the official added.

The ROP calls upon all citizens and residents to beware of being victims of such criminal acts and to exercise caution when conducting banking transactions.
