The signing ceremony was also attended by Hoehler + alSalmy (H+S), the design consultant for the project as well as board directors of Gulf Hotels. The construction work is scheduled to start on May 15 and expected to be completed by August 31, said K V Vijay Raghavan, director, Gulf Hotels.
“We planned the renovation to coincide with Ramadan and the summers, which is a low tourist season. We have been renovating the hotel from time to time, but this is the biggest one. So it was decided to close down the operation for three months,” said Raghavan.
The scope of construction contract includes rebuilding of pool area, including a new state-of-the-art two level infinity pool, the porte cochére, lobby, entrance and reception area among others. “This would be supplemented by a new contemporary designed facade of the building, to go with the refreshing new look of the entire hotel,” stated the company.
“The plan is to completely change the lobby area, and extend the terrace, adding one more level to it, two to three steps below the current one,” said Raghavan. This is due to the demand from guests at the three restaurants who want to sit out and enjoy the beach-front view, added Raghavan. The main all-day dining restaurant will also be redesigned and extended.
“We are excited for the renovation work and look forward to welcoming our guests to our new facilities in September,” said Herve Corvest, area general manager, Crowne Plaza Muscat.
