Conference explores aspects of marine life conservation

A two-day underwater life conference began at Salalah Plaza Resort on Tuesday. 

Eng Aida al Jabri, a marine environment conservation specialist in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) who is taking part in the conference said that the idea is to come up with ways and mechanisms to protect marine environment.

“This international conference brings together leaders, decision-makers, researchers and those interested in marine environment to look at sustainable ways to preserve environment,” said Eng Aida.

She added, “The conference is being held in cooperation with MECA, the United Nations Environment Program, United Nations Information Center for the GCC and Trabat Center.” The conference with more than 17 speakers and experts from around the world is also organising courses in Underwater Exploration Course (diving course for beginners and professionals) and Basics of Underwater Photography.

“I presented a working paper on marine environment in Oman and the efforts undertaken to raise awareness among people,” said Aida.
