Building on success: Omani youth eyes international championships

Omani bodybuilder Bilarab Moosa Obaid al Salami is a perfect role model for the country’s youth. With several international achievements to his credit already, Salami is eyeing participations in more championships this year. 

Salami, recently won the first place in Oman Open Bodybuilding and Physique Championship 2019, and also bagged the fourth position in the World Body Building Championship.

He is now eyeing success in the International Federation of Bodybuilding Fitness (IFBF) event to be held in China in July, and also another world championship to be held in the UAE in November.

An employee of the National Bank of Oman (NBO), Salami was honoured by the Ministry of Sports Affairs for his achievements in 2018.

Musallam Kashoub, head of Human Resources at NBO, said, “We support our talented staff and value the power of people, particularly those who are positive role models to Omani youth, and represent the sultanate in international events such as Salami.”

Salami added, “Bodybuilding requires perseverance, dedication and hard work, which are all attributes aligned with NBO values.”

Salami started his bodybuilding career in 2008 and has competed in various weight classes. “I am grateful to NBO for all its support and for enabling me to realise my goals. I look forward to achieving more international recognition and build on my successful record.”
