Australian Business Group Oman organises gala dinner

Muscat -

Sixty members and guests of the Australian Business Group Oman (ABGO) recently gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel’s Le Caprice Restaurant for a gala dinner. Attendees were treated to a variety of Australian delicacies prepared by the executive chef Shivji Sasidheran and his team.

ABGO chairman, Susan Rae, welcomed guests, including the senior trade commissioner Ross Bray, representing the Australian Embassy. Commissioner Bray spoke of the premium agricultural products for which Australia is famous. He informed attendees that Australia feeds 70mn people every day, which is almost three times Australia’s population, making Australia a major world exporter of premium produce.

Meat and Livestock Australia’s representative, Nick Meara, reinforced the strong relationship enjoyed by Australian producers with Oman and the GCC. Susan thanked sponsors for their ongoing support of the business group, which seeks to strengthen business ties between Oman and Australia. Key sponsors include Addleshaw Goddard, the Victorian Government Business Office and Worley Parsons, all of whom attended the event. Qatar Airways, which has 42 flights per week to Australia, donated a door prize of a return flight to any Australian city in their network.
