29,647 seats available for students, says HEAC

Dr Hamad bin Khalfan al Nu’mani, director general of the Higher Education Admission Center (HEAC), said that the percentage of seats available in institutions, scholarships and grants compared to the number of Omani students who have been successful in the general education diploma in the age group (16-25 years) is 92.4 per cent (29,647 seats).

He said that the seats were distributed as follows: 17,937 in government higher education institutions, 9,588 as internal scholarships, 1,638 as external scholarships, 202 as private grants for studies in Oman, 48 as private grants for studies abroad and 234 seats for students with special needs.

He added that the new programmes have been introduced in external scholarships such as ship design engineering and arts disciplines in the fields of ceramics, textiles, wood, leather, metals and jewellery.

The director general of HEAC said that data updating stage will begin on Thursday (July 13) from 8am and will end at 2pm on July 24.
