The ministry said that 106 of these were runaway workers while 176 worked in professions other than that specified in their visas. “Among those arrested from the Mawaleh market, 15 had tailoring listed as their profession, followed by laundry (eight), cooks (six) and domestic workers (six). The rest of those arrested workers were from the construction sector.”
282 vendors held from Mawaleh market
The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has announced the arrest of 282 vendors from the Central Fruits and Vegetables Market in Mawaleh in the first quarter of 2019. The arrests were made by the ministry’s inspection teams, in cooperation with the concerned authorities.
