Oman Mining Expo to begin from April 15

With a view to boost Oman’s mining sector and take significant steps to revamp its structure, trade exhibitions and conferences organiser Omanexpo and government sector regulator Public Authority for Mining (PAM) will organise Oman Mining Expo from April 15 to April 17 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Speaking at a press conference last week, H E Eng Hilal al Busaidi, CEO of PAM said that this event is a part of their efforts to provide a boost to the sultanate’s mining sector. “In recent time, PAM has taken various steps to accelerate the growth of mining and allied industries in the country. The most important of which is the issuing of a new mining law by the government,” he said.

Besides H E Busaidi, Dr Ali al Rajhi, director general at PAM and Nasser Magbali, CEO of Mineral Development Oman (MDO) along with Mohammed Shabibi, vice chairman of Gulf Mining Group and Ravi Sharma, managing director of Bedrock Mineral Resource Consulting were also present at the event. Omanexpo was represented by its exhibition director Indrajeet Kumar.

Senior representatives from other important stakeholders in Oman’s mining sector such as Port of Duqm, Port of Salalah, Oman Shipping Co, Oman Cement Co, Weir Minerals and Rockwell Automation were also present at the press conference.

According to Kumar, Oman Mining Expo, the only trade platform in the sultanate for mining sector, is slowly gaining stead and taking centre stage as the biggest meeting place for the mining industry in the Middle East.

The exhibition will welcome over 100 top local and international mining and mining-related organisations, a higher representation than the 2017 edition, who will showcase the most advanced products, services and technologies in the current market, with the international participation from Germany, India, Iran, Turkey, China, Russia, Ukraine, France, Austria, Italy, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Alongside the exhibition will be a full conference on the strategies and legislation in Oman’s mining sector. The conference will discuss project opportunities, best practices in exploration and mining, project financing and investment, local community development and human resources in mining.
