According to a press release, Yafai, who has more than 25 years of practical experience, started his career in 1991 in the Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO). In 2005, he continued his work journey and joined Oman Gas Company and worked there for 11 years in several positions such as operations supervisor, senior operation support engineer, regional manager on different locations and finally as south asset manager in 2014.
In 2016, Yafai took another challenge when he joined Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production (OOCEP) as field operations manager at Block 60.
Eng Hussain bin Hassan AbdulHussain, Haya Water’s CEO, said that Yafai’s appointment comes as part of the company’s continuous efforts to empower Omanis to be part of the top management team. As a result of the company’s exerted efforts for Omanisation either in top or in middle positions are coming into fruition.
“We are fully confident of Yafai’s capabilities to lead the operation and maintenance. His expertise and qualifications will help to translate the company’s vision, mission and strategies to cover all the governorates except Dhofar with the waste water services based on Haya Water’s plans and approved financial appropriations,” AbdulHussain added.
Yafai said, “I am honoured to have the confidence of the Haya Water’s board of directors and its CEO to lead the operation and maintenance team. However, we will continue to pursue the ongoing success Haya Water has enjoyed in the past years and to keep the company one of the leading establishments in Oman in terms of infrastructure projects. I wish to contribute positively to the development of economic, environmental, health and other domains.”
Yafai holds a master’s degree in process engineering management from London Brunel University.
